Denis Waitley, American Motivational Speaker, said, “Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”
Friday is an appreciation day at my place of employment. The simple thought of appreciation began a domino effect of thoughts, momentarily flooding me with questions about my everyday behaviors and actions.
What do we truly have gratitude for or appreciate?
Or are we just now entitled? What makes us entitled?
We use countless tools everyday without a second thought of what transpired to make them possible.
The mirror in your restroom every morning; we never look at a mirror or appreciation what ease the mirror gives to our morning task. It is merely on object we look through for our own benefit. Yet if you remove a mirror as a tool you possess, what then.
Then there are larger impacting items in life; friends and family, co workers, cars, homes, electricity, plumbing, security, income, so on..
Do we appreciate these people, objects, actions, and things like we did the first time our eyes and hearts saw and felt them?
Or are they now blanketed by the shadows of our own “Entitlement”.
Stop, Look around, listen, Appreciate..
The moment you realize you need nothing is the moment you realize you have everything.
