A friend of mine suggested a book for me to read. She told me it helped change the direction of her life. I do see her positive adjustments and told her I would read the book. I haven’t actually read it yet; I did however begin skimming through the book and browsed a few sources on the internet about it. I looked up some quotes from the book. I’m a fan of inspirational and thought-provoking quotes. Just from that small time-frame, about 20 minutes, I became intrigued.
What can this offer me? Was one of my first thoughts. Then after a short while I realized isn’t that most of the issues we face within ourselves. What can this offer me? The book obtains knowledge and it can only offer me what I choose to take from it, nothing else.
Instead I believe the real question is, What can I offer me? What can we offer ourselves in very interaction and thought we have in our lives?
The quote from the book that brought upon the debate in my head was a very simple quote.
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change!” – Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
