Why does attrition work? (Positive Thursday – Elephant)
Why do people that work harder out last and out do so many people with more talent.
Three reasons come to mind right away.
They believe differently;
They focus only on the actions and behaviors they are doing at the moment;
They do not overlook the small things that make up the whole;
The small things, the unnoticed or uncared for actions in our day to day.
The one straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Imagine your home recently built with all the bells and whistles. You added the new chef worthy kitchen.The enormous walk-in closest and master bedroom suite. The backyard for the kids and the tree house. Its moving day; all your new furniture and belongings are in your two massive moving trucks. As you walk up to the door and put the key in the lock you are ecstatic. You turn the key, take a deep breath, and smile.
And nothing, the key doesn’t work.
Now panic, worry, stress begins to settle. You have everyone waiting behind you.
Yet you were given the wrong key.
It is our attention to every detail, large, small, insignificant that makes things great. The Great Pyramid of Giza, the largest pyramid every built, has an estimated 2.3 million stones. Each of these stones playing as significant part of what is a Wonder of the World. It is not the first stone nor that last stone but every stones that makes Giza a Wonder of the Wonder.
Just like the millions of pieces of straw that broke the camel’s back. The accumulation of small things.
Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies. Mother Teresa
