In the final story of Steve Jobs, How to Live Before You Die, he speaks indirectly about living. Living to your capability and potential. Steve Jobs states, “Death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.” This quote shares the absolute of of life. Life is limited and there is an end; we all share this as we live. What we don’t share however is the time and efficiency of our life in between. We, no matter how we perceive or feel at any moment, are responsible and in control of our thoughts and actions. We determine the use of time and efficiency of our life.
Steve continues in his speech, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Every person must follow their heart, values, and intuition. Make your own path, have your own autonomy in life. This will lead you directly to the happiness that you deserve. Don’t become consumed with the results of others. You don’t know how they ended where they are. You do know how you arrived at your destination. You have the ability to move to the next one.
So remember –
You can’t see your path looking forward only backwards. Connect your dots, learn and continue onward.
It difficult times don’t give up or quit. Reset your passion and drive. Harness why you do the things you do everyday – Start Again.
Understand there is an end. Focus on what you are doing now and take control of your own destination. We all have a certain amount of capability. Reach it!
